Data Vault Training Course

Are Data Vaults for me?

Historically when designing and implementing Data Warehouse platforms there have been two significant modelling challenges:

  • What data will I leave out?
  • The structure of the data dictates how I model and use it later

Whilst not a problem for many organisations getting this wrong for some can lead to inflexible designs that slow the speed with which new data sources can be onboarded and existing data integration can be enhanced.  This can be a significant issue. Data Vault to the rescue.

The main drivers for organizations applying data vault modelling are twofold, model flexibility and full data traceability and auditability.  By breaking down the model and storing core business concepts as collections of smaller parts, when something changes the impact of the change is minimised.

In the end, your integrated data asset (data warehouse, data lake, big data deployment, ODS, MDM directory, etc.) responds quickly and easily to change whilst maintaining a full historical record of all data elements and source changes.

If change is the only constant in your data environment, data vault may be the model for you.

The 3-day training course will run between 26-28 March in Wellington.

This course will guide you through the Data Vault modelling approach from modelling constructs and patterns to applying data vault principles in your DWBI program.  This course covers also loading paradigms, architectures, and how to develop an effective overall data vault data warehouse program. Since data vault may be new for many of you, this course also includes a summary of the benefits of using data vault techniques.

The course is a three (3) day intensive classroom-based course. The course consists of five core components plus the certification exam. The classroom time is
